Blood Connects Us All

The past few months have been very tough on everyone in the country. Recent events have left a lot of bloodshed in the streets and a deeper division between the community. Though it pains us to see that we still have a long way to achieve the reconciliation and unity we aim for; we are also reminded that we have to keep working harder with the youth in this country.

We believe that bringing the youth to work together, voluntarily, for a shared goal will reinforce mutual understanding and trust between them. We have made it our mission to promote and engage in acts of solidarity and civic responsibleness that build bridges between people from all different backgrounds. Such acts of unity for a common purpose spread hope for a better future in the hearts of those who do them, those who receive them, and those who witness them.

WHY WE HAVE HOPE

While bad news are making the headlines every day; at DSC we are thankful to be witnessing the contrary. In the worst times Lebanon is facing, the turnout of voluntary blood donors responding to urgent blood demands is overwhelming. On a monthly basis, more than 1,000 donors respond to our calls and are directed to blood banks all over the country, not allowing the economic crisis or fuel shortage to get in their way. Over 500 of them are eventually able to donate to someone they don’t even know. If this doesn’t keep us going, we don’t know what would! To all these silent heroes who are giving of themselves when there’s not much left to be given, we thank you wholeheartedly not only for saving precious lives but also for leading the way in civic responsibleness.

WHAT ARE WE UP TO

In the past months, we have taken the time to reorganize ourselves, strengthen our team, expand our fleet for wider coverage and equip ourselves with the right tools to respond to challenges in the most efficient and timely manner, in order to serve better.

In our General Assembly held on the 9th& 10thof October, we gathered 200 volunteers from 14 different districts to share with them upcoming projects, new strategies for the coming year, and most importantly, to remind them of the great importance of their role in society in bringing people together through the blood donation cause. October marks the beginning of the new academic year and we have a lot of activities coming up across schools, universities, organizations, and public places. You can check them on our new website: www.dsclebanon.org which will be constantly updated with dates of blood drives, events, and more.

We wouldn’t have been able to grow and improve without your loyal support to our community and we can’t thank you enough for believing in our mission to help this country stand back on its feet.

We will keep working for the day where blood of our brothers and sisters is absent from the streets and hopefully filling all blood banks.
